Padmavathi hails from a family of Musicians. She received her initial training from Vidwan Late Shri M.V. Ramana Murthy and Shri Pemmaraju SuryaRao. She continued to flourish under Smt. TR Balamani's guidance and later pursued advanced training from Sangeetha Kalanidhi Shri Nedunuri Krishna Murthy, where she was greatly influenced by his Bani. Thereby she enriched her music with elements like Bhava Laden Alapana, and rich Gamakas. Gana Bhushana Shri Vaidyanathan Bhagavathar ( Disciple of Muthayya Bhagavathar).
She holds M.A. Music from Andhra University and Diploma from G.V.R. Government Music College, Vijayawada. She won several prizes in classical music held while she was pursuing her music education. She gave several performances in India and Abroad and also gave jugal Bandi with Hindustani Musicians. She composed several tunes in light and light classical music, which are widely appreciated and approved by AIR.
She has been very actively teaching carnatic music for over 20 years and has unique teaching skills with innovative and scientific teaching methods. She is an examiner and evaluator of Akhila Bharata Gandharva Mahavidyalaya. She made Carnatic Music syllabus for Gandharva Niketan of Pune. She conducted several workshops on 'Teaching of Music' and 'Annamacharya, Thyagaraja and Ramadasu compositions'.
She is also teaching carnatic vocal music online and has several students in US, UK, and Egypt. She excels as a performer and trainer to carry on the tradition and pass on the knowledge to the budding artists. Some of her students were selected for Junior and Senior level National Scholarships in India.
